Gray Hairstreak Butterfly Pictures
Strymon melinus
The Gray Hairstreak butterfly is found throughout the continental United States from southern Canada south to Mexico and southward to Venezuela. It is often confused with the Eastern Tailed-Blue. Eastern Tailed-Blues tend to have more "scattered" spots on the wing underside, whereas the Gray Hairstreak's dots are more aligned. The Gray Hairstreak also typically has an orange dot on its head and longer tails.
