Eastern Tiger Swallowtail Butterfly Pictures
Papilio canadensis
The Eastern Tiger Swallowtail is an abundant species in the entire eastern United States, west to Colorado, north to Canada. The male is yellow with dark "tiger" stripes. The female actually comes in two forms, yellow like the male or black. But females always have a wash of irridescent blue scales over their interior hindwings, whic hthe males lack.
