The Butterfly Website has mailing list of over 60,000
opt-in email addresses. On a regular
basis, we send out a newsletter to the list containing information
on butterfly-related material such as conservation, migration updates,
gardening info, fun facts, etc. Each newsletter also includes advertisements
for our own products.
We are adding one advertising slot to the newsletter. The cost
per issue is $395. Slots will be filled on a first-come, first-served
basis. The ad can include one 400x75 banner and up to 30 words describing
the business. It will appear in the middle of the newsletter (see
example below).

Following is an example of a previous newsletter that concentrated
on birds. Most newsletters will focus on butterflies.

Yep - February is National Bird Feeding Month, so we're here to

the winter season.

HEALTHY BIRD FEEDING
No matter where you live, the weather of winter months can be unpredictable
bringing cold chills and sudden storms. Food isn't always as readily
available for birds this time of year. That is why it's important
to keep your feeders clean and full to supply supplementary diets
if needed. Here are some tips for optimum feeder usage:
- Hang feeders at varying levels and different places in the yard
so many different species can use them.
- Stamp down any snow on the ground under feeders so that birds
can eat fallen seeds.
- Offer suet for those birds who require the fat (chickadees,
woodpeckers, nuthatches).
- If your budget allows, add a heated bird bath to your yard,
as birds require fresh water all year long and it's not so easy
to find during cold months.
- And remember to KEEP THEM CLEAN! Use a mild bleach solution
(1/4 cup bleach/2 gallons warm water) and rinse well.

STORM KILLS LARGE PORTION OF MEXICAN MONARCHS
Family of Nature is very sad to report that on January 12th, a storm
hit the monarch overwintering grounds in Mexico killing a large
portion of the population. A formal study has not yet determined
the exact percentage of mortality. Biologists fear that this unique
sanctuary is not offering the protection from inclement weather
as it used to due to heavy deforestation. For the latest news, check
the Journey
North website.
CONSERVATION ALERT - NEW JERSEY BEACH IN DANGER
New Jersey's Holgate Beach provides an extraordinary experience
for solitude and bird-watching. But illegal dune buggies and other
off-road vehicle threaten that experience, as they violate Holgate
Beach's federally designated Wilderness status. Now, legislation
introduced in Congress would change the Holgate Wilderness boundary
to legitimize off-road vehicles there. Click
here to learn more about this and other current conservation alerts.
